Drama review: Love Rain

Just finished watching the Korean drama 'Love Rain' by my favourite Jang Geun Suk, and SNSD's Yoona.

First time I felt that the drama had both beautiful leads in it. One's my favourite korean actor, one's SNSD's prettiest Yoona.

Well for ppl who don't like slow-moving dramas or movies, this drama would probably bore u out in the first 4 episodes, cos those 4 episodes are bout the life of In Ha (played by Jang Geun Suk) and Yun Hee (Yoona) in the 1970s. Well u know, in the 70s, ppl are more shy and slow. 

Well, sometimes I really feel like bashing those 2. Its like they are too shy! If they weren't so shy then all those misunderstanding wouldn't have happened mah. But I guess thats how ppl in the 70s are?

I thought that these 2 acted really well! Depicting that kind of 70s feel!

So I think the drama perfectly depicts that kind of feel! Felt that it was during that time when their luv was strongest. Slow-moving and not exciting like other dramas yes, but I still like it. 

Arty feel to the filming. I can imagine some guys falling asleep while the rest who luv these type of arty touch to films will continue watching. But I like the fact that those guys still remained good friends up till old age. The drama depicts that kind of camaderie of the 3 best guy friends for 30years unchanged. When they are 50years old, they still meet up for a drink, reminisce on the old times, when they were young. Its a great feeling. Really. Wish I can do that when I'm old. haha.

Well, but anw, because of some misunderstanding and Yun Hee was sick with TB (tuberculosis) and she went to the US, in the end they didn't end up tgt.

At episode 5, the drama moved on to the present era, where Jang Geun Suk acts as In Ha's son, Joon, and Yoona acts as the daughter of Yun Hee, Hana. 

Shan't talk so much about the storyline just in case too much spoiler. But from this part onwards, its pretty much back to the normal kind of korean drama: 

Guy meets girl on bad terms, but both start to fall in luv with each other, yet meet with disruption from outside elements like the evil mother, 2 other guys fall for the female lead and yet shes only in luv with the male lead. Some funny sidekicks to add some laughter to the drama, some beautiful scenes to add some eye candy to viewers, some accessories like necklaces or rings to mark their love, some jealousy, some hidden love.. Blah blah.... u know de lah.

However! All those are solved and what I luv about this drama is that its a happy ending! 

But anw, I felt that Jang Geun Suk's character as Joon somehow reminds me of Taekyung in his previous drama 'You're Beautiful'. The same stylish. cranky, badass type of character. Haha. But he suits it. 

He SUITS ANY KIND OF CHARACTER OK!

Too many sad endings for alot of korean dramas. At first I thought that Yun Hee would die, or at least become blind... but she didn't! Her daughter and her beloved got married and they lived happily ever after! 

Guy should just stay away from the boring black all over the body. Add some touch of white, cream, shine, bling, whatsoever!

But on a side note, ISN'T YOONA'S WEDDING DRESS AWESOME? The pretty sandals just complements it perfectly!

Makes me rethink on my layered cake dress for this. And the floral wreath on her head is just too pretty! Can I do this too? But its abit weird if your wedding is not held in the garden or something.

Ohwells. Ok this scene lasted for a few seconds only, so don't talk so much about it lol.

Anw, to my surprise, Yoona actually acts well! Well cos I was abit biased towards her cos I think she's the lousiest singer in SNSD srsly. But ok lah her acting makes up for it! And too pretty alr I shall forgive her for now. But I feel she should brush up on her singing more! After all, ppl know her as Yoona from SNSD!

Ok. So all in all, great acting from all the actors in this drama. Even though there were many scenes focusing on the older actors, but its as if the continuation of the luv from the 70s were so overpowering that u can't stop watching them.

If u luv all things beautiful, watch this drama. Not just because of the beautiful clothes and beautiful ppl (well partly lah).

Its really touching, heart-wrenching, and soo true in this world.

Makes u rethink bout your definition towards LOVE.

Have u loved someone wholeheartedly today?

Go on.

drama review: MDWAV2

hahaha. its "my date with a vampire 2". one of the longest drama titles ever.

too bored at home recently, so I watched this hong kong ATV drama on my mioTV. skipping some episodes and fastforwarding some scenes.

I should think I watched this my date with a vampire trilogy last time, but I have totally no recollection of what happened at the end. what a bad memory I have rite!?

but hey, this drama started in 1998 for part 1, 1999 for part 2, and 2004 for part 3. I couldn't possibly rmb all the things since it was like 10 years ago!

but it is one of my fav dramas of all time. they used the music "lithos lusec wecos vinosec" throughout the drama. fans of final fantasy would know its the witches theme from ff8 (and I LUV ff8) AND because of the vampire nature of the drama, I luv it even more. u know lah. back to the olden days where we have buffy the vampire slayer? it was so freaking popular those days. ppl were always fascinated with vampires, and now we have twilight, vampire diaries...

...the list goes on...

mdwav was really freaking popular for the chinese community too! kinda miss it. but this drama is 43 episodes long....too long for me to be watching it episode by episode so I just watched the parts I like. and here goes the summary:

ma xiaoling and kuang tianyou are the main leads in this drama. look at those outdated shades! spells year 1999!

ma xiaoling is a descendant of the ma family of vampire/ghost slayers, while kuang tianyou is a vampire who got bitten 60 years ago by the vampire king 疆臣:

yepp and this woman here with the vampire king is 女娲. shes the creator of the world and mankind. these 2 are a couple. weird eh? she wants to come back and destroy the world as she sees that human has become hurtful and bad. but obviously the rest of the leads in the drama don't want that to happen.

thats when one of my fav characters 金未来 and 堂本静 comes in. they are both vampires who had sex and gave birth to a vampire child. and as with all vampire stories (I think), a vampire child brings disaster to the world, so vampires can't give birth. but 未来 gave birth anw. but amazingly the child Nino grows at an amazing rate...in just a few months, he became like this:

yes the bald man is the supposed baby. and the woman is the mum. after she gave birth her hair turned white. haha reminds me of rogue from X-Men.

and so, Nino is actually not a disaster but rather he helps tianyou and xiaoling to fight against 女娲.

43 episodes really very hard to summarize but the end is as such:
the vampire king challenges tianyou to a duel. (as u know, tianyou is obviously weaker than the king mah. u see the power of a vampire by the colour of his eyes; red is the highest level) tianyou's eye colour was green at first, but he rmbs that power is not within hate, but within love. so he gained power from loving ma xiaoling (scriptwriters always like to make ppl who aren't supposed to fall in luv to fall in luv. lol)

in the end, tianyou gained tremendous power and the vampire king was killed. (and I rmb I laughed out loud during their duel coz it seemed so funny. plus the music from ff8 gave a weirder feeling to laugh. and the special effects were....u know, 10years ago de standard)

but rmb 女娲? to destroy the world, she had planned a meteor to hit earth on year 2000 january, and the meteor had already entered the earth's atmosphere. so tianyou and xiaoling has to get the bow and arrow from the "pangu tribe" to shoot down the meteor. haha I know it sounds stupid, but trust me when u watch it u would feel ok de. BUT, the arrow was alr destroyed by the vampire king previously, so they had to sacrifice their lives to get the arrow to shoot down the meteor and save the world.

and after that they died and went to heaven. and from there was a continuation to part 3...


and so now lets talk about one of my fav characters 堂本静:
the weird looking guy with the tall hat.
I don't know why I like him, coz he is quite a mad man whose vampire power is to enter ppl's dreams. but I guess coz he has a weird sense of style and always wears a hat. reminds me of the madhatter from alice in wonderland! I luv johnny depp.

but thats about all the proper picture I can find of him. and gosh when I saw his real life photo I was not very shocked coz he is not shuai at all. lol. I repeat. NOT shuai.

and this is the beautiful 金未来:
odd looking maybe thats why I like too. haha.

erm. this is when tianyou becomes mad and powerful and ready for a duel. really LOL hor.

so next is spoiler alert where I tell u who dies and who lives.

as said previously, tianyou dies at the end. BUT let me tell u, he comes back in part 3 lah.

ma xiaoling dies too. but comes back in part 3, with a heavy emphasis on her role too! I cant stand the fashion 10 years ago. quite laughable. but thats what ppl wear back then.

this is situ fen ren, another vampire who died under the vampire king at the end. forgot to say he's quite the important character who appeared in all 3 parts of MDWAV.

the vampire king, who died.

金未来, who can be said to die under the vampire king during the 30+ episode. lol at her coat.

堂本静. died at episode 24-25, under ma xiaoling. after his wife gave birth to nino. so sad rite cannot see his baby and have to die. but he is a bad guy. LOL at his pose.

wang zhen zhen. the luv of situ fen ren. and the only human here. she got killed by 堂本静 in episode 24-25. really can't stand their fashion le.

see? zhen zhen. she looks so pretty here.

but anw, besides the point, to summarize, the only ppl who survived were kuang fusheng, tianyou's brother/son (who was a vampire at first but somehow at the end he turned human). and erm...gosh. no one else! all the other unimportant characters survived ba.

I really forgot how they continue into part 3 but most of the important characters were back lor. but as different personnels le. weird weird weird.

but. after all these years, other than the special effects and fashion which were atrocious, everything was good. the plot of part 2 was the best out of the 3. I rmb part 3 sort of sux.

and I still don't think ma xiaoling is pretty although alot of ppl luv her. but she has nice legs though. throughout the drama the focus of her is on her legs as she always wears short skirts. haha.

and I think kuang tianyou is not handsome at all. maybe thats why the characters in this drama are not that famous. heard from my hk friend that they are not famous actors in hk. (except for the vampire king, I rmb he is quite popular). its quite sad.

but the drama did gain popularity in other countries outside of hk and I'm relieved at that. even if u have not watched part 1, its ok, part 2 doesn't have to link with part 1. actually all 3 can be watched individually on its own or linked tgt. doesn't matter.

but all 3 has the neverending love between ma xiaoling and kuang tianyou, thats for sure =)

Drama review: Hong Gil Dong

hmm I thought since I'm so bored. might as well write a review on this korean drama which I watched weeks ago, long before I watched 'you're beautiful'



actually this drama started on channelU but I didn't watch coz its a period drama (and I don't like period dramas except for da chang jin) but stumbled upon it when I switched on the tv one day. and I decided I shall just watch it. HAH.

the opening of the drama actually depicts hong gil dong alr as a hero. but there was a flashback years ago to when hong gil dong was still a notorious guy in the village. coz he is an illegitimate son of a minister, he cannot do anything. that was the law of the world then. however, being a bright and smart guy, he eventually learnt martial arts from a monk (who is really funny) and became someone very powerful. as the story progresses, he realizes the injustices of the world he lives in and tries to fight them by stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. something like robin hood.

OK. the female lead yi nok comes in coz she is hong gil dong's love. and through a twisted fate she is actually the daughter of a minister, hong gil dong's father's best friend too. BUT, hong gil dong's dad killed this best friend of his for the king, and luckily yi nok got away and got adopted by her current grandfather.

another character, lee chang hui (JANG GEUN SUK!!) is actually the younger brother of the current king, and is plotting to overthrow the king because he has been taught by the queen since young that he is the rightful heir to the throne. he is living in seclusion coz the king thought that he had killed his little brother in a fire years back. but nope, luckily my dear jang geun suk doesn't die and comes back to take the throne. and he got it in the end.

the female and male lead.


HOWEVER! chang hui starts to fall head over heels in love with yi nok!!
and I rather they be together. hmph. but ohwells. if u watch how the story goes u would root for them too.



ok at the same time, chang hui forms an alliance with hong gil dong to win over the ppl and overthrow the king. yepp and they did. but the story is soo damn long and complicated thats all I can say and in the end chang hui became the king and hong gil dong is the hero of the ppl. and btw yi nok is supposed to become the queen coz her dad and chang hui's mum had this agreement when they were born that they will marry each other. yay chang hui tgt with his love so fullstop won't it be great?



however the story doesn't stop here. coz hong gil dong is determined to create a world where everyone is equal. but chang hui wants the world to be under him.

of coz mah. he king alr leh.

but the story really gets very confusing here. I don't really know how to say.



and in the end lots of other factors, plus pressure from the court ministers cause chang hui to exterminate hong gil dong's gang. and knowing that staying by hong gil dong's side, the stubborn yi nok would die too. but she still stayed by him anw.
I really don't understand leh. he and his gang know that they will die, but they still wanna oppose the king's troops. like wtf are they idiots.

they should be tgt!



but anw. what caused me to break down at the ending was that everyone died. except my dearest chang hui lah. but.......

EVERYONE impt in the drama! except for hong gil dong's master whom later on in his yrs took in another disciple (and viewers assume that this disciple would become the next hong gil dong)



the thing is. whoever likes endings like this?



definitely not me!




damn shocking lor! I can't stop swearing at the ending of the drama. and thought perhaps they would have another ending requested (sth like the little nyonya which created another ending)



but nope they didn't! sobx.



but the crux of the drama is actually that there will always be a hong gil dong living in us. even to this time and age. that we are striving for a world where everyone is equal.



bahh...

possible?











nope. although I hope that day would come. thats the essence of the drama.



so now let us look at the beautiful jang geun suk again. this was the drama which made me adore him. YES this drama with his long hair. and 'you're beautiful' made me luv him. haha.



ok seriously I liked this hong gil dong drama. its a period drama but its sooooo sooooooo freaking funny. 10times funnier than 'you're beautiful'. haha coz its meant to be a comedy drama. but u don't normally associate period drama with comedy so its effect on me was great. and its not often I laugh out loud when watching dramas so this drama is really funny.



weird and funny in its own sense, however, the drama has some sad moments too. I rmb I cried terribly at the death of yi nok's grandfather. like TERRIBLY. but then again, I suspect I have sensitive tear glands.



so if u are looking for entertainment, something to laugh about, something to ponder about, and some eye candy to look at, watch this drama!


and so I say, jang geun suk looks good in ANY hairstyle.

Drama review: You're Beautiful

finished watching this korean drama 2weeks ago in just 3days! hahaha. just 16 episodes only. damn saddening. they should make it longer! I hope there is a season 2! will there be?

the drama is about this girl Go Mi Nyu who is about to become a full fledged sister (nun) in Rome. however, the manager(that funny guy lying on the floor in the next picture) of Go Mi Nam (her twin brother) begged her to take his place as a new additional member to the very famous band A.N.JELL. why? because of a botched double eyelid surgery where he has to go the the US for another surgery. she just has to pretend to be him for a month, where afterwards he would come back and everything would be back to normal.

well things doesn't go smoothly and at the 1st few episodes tae kyung (JANG GEUN SUK!!) discovered that she is a girl. and although he seemed as if he disliked her the 2 started to fall in love with each other. and amazingly the other member in A.N.JELL shin woo alr knew she was a girl right from the start, and was head over heels in love with her, but only protecting her quietly from the side. and the other member with blonde hair jeremy started to like "him" not knowing that go mi nam is actually a girl in disguise.

lucky girl eh? hahaha. dramas like this always like that de lah. although I don't think the female lead is pretty as she has a VERY round face, but ohwells. at least her acting with tae kyung was seamless. but seriously, when she stand beside tae kyung her face is gigantic. jang geun suk too skinny alr. haha.
Ii feel amazed that ppl working around go mi nam doesn't know she is a girl. in one of the scenes where she has to go underwater in the swimming pool. its so obvious her boobs are damn big!


but anw. this has become my fav drama till date. due to a few reasons:

1. JANG GEUN SUK IS LOVE. what more can I say.
2. using band and music as a topic is cliche I know. but its still my fav type.
3. the other 2 guys in the drama is actually cute and cool too! appeals to a large mass.
4. the fashion u see in the drama is LOVE. lots of nice clothes. makes ppl wanna go korea
5. the soundtrack OST is just awesome. jang geun suk's voice so sexy.
6. another drama which successfully creates merchandises that makes fangirls wanna get
yepp one of the scenes where tae kyung performs "operation" on a pig and rabbitI can only say...poor pig. become noseless. but its sacrifice enabled...

where he clips on the hairclip for his love.
so the hairclip has become famous.
another thing he put on the pig rabbit is the necklace he gave to his love at the end of the drama




and do u know jang geun suk has soo many different hairstyles in the drama that someone apparently put together all the hairstyles he had!? they say its the tae kyung's 100 hairstyles but from what I see its alot of repeats lah. not exactly 100 but, still alot.

which ones do u like best? I like the ones where he put all his hair behind. shows his cute face mah. and it has more of a baddie look.

watch it if u haven't. definitely good for girls to go gaga over.

the girl on the rightest is coordinator wang. the one in charge of the wardrobes and for go mi nam's chest flatener and fake balls. YA she even put fake balls to let ppl think she's a guy. HOHO.

scenes to watch out for:
1. go mi nam trying to light out the fire by spitting all over tae kyung's room. LOL

2. tae kyung standing in a large field, spreading his hands out like an idiot when afterwards a pig chased after him. LOL!!!! epic!



3. the "operation" of the pig rabbit. so cute!

4. the band goes grocery shopping, and reenact all their previous endorsements and commercials, and shows their strong bonds...awww

5. after tae kyung first kissed go mi nam, fireworks exploded on top of her head. HAHA

6. when tae kyung found out that go mi nam gave his 100marks, he hugged the pig rabbit like an idiot. HAHAHA SO CUTE!

7. the manager thinking of random "sorry sorry" scenes, "wife's temptation" scenes

8. jeremy singing and palpitating on the bus after he finds out that go mi nam likes tae kyung instead of him. and after he stepped down the bus his expression totally changed to happy...one of the saddest scenes....

9. how tae kyung pretended to want to hit go mi nam but kissed her instead. aww

10. the concert where tae kyung was looking out for go mi nam. the song he was singing at the same time makes u go "awwwww"

11. the concert where he walked towards go mi nam and yada yada u know what happens. aww...

12. basically all scenes where tae kyung pouts. OK I am biased.
